Charter Boat - Hvità
Hvità, is a 35ft Lancer, built in Brundel. Her dimensions are 33ft (LOA) and a beam of 12ft. In 1990 she had 2 feet taken of her bow to bring her under 10meters (33 feet). In 97’ she under went a major refit where she had a new deck and superstructure, and 04’ had her engine replaced.

She has a deck space of 244 square feet where 10 anglers/passengers can have a very comfortable day, up to 20miles offshore. We carry all the latest equipment including radar, fish finder, GPS and all other electrical equipment required by the Maritime Coastguard Agency (MCA) standard for a workboat (Brown Code).

Skipper - Andrew Wood

Our main skipper has passed an examination from the MCA for a merchant navy deck officer, which is a qualification above the RYA Ocean Yacht Masters. Our other skipper has passed the relevant MCA examination which is relevant to the nature of work the vessel can carry out. We have over 40 years of experience between us, giving our anglers all the benefits of such local knowledge.

We cater for all fishing and can offer you extensive tuition for the not so experienced but still help the more experienced adapt to the different area. We can also give tours of the once vast fishing town.

In 2001 Hvità went through some extensive surveys to make the vessel comply with the MCA requirements for the Brown Code of practice. She still has annual surveys to check the seaworthiness of the vessel, and a five yearly inclination test. During this time of change it hit the local vessels hard and saw only three of boats to meet the required standard.

Hvità is very angler friendly with a very spacious deck, which is capable of carrying wheelchairs without impeding another passenger’s day. We are lucky enough to have to use of a wheelchair lift at the Royal Norfolk and Suffolk Yacht Club (RN&SYC). There is also changing room and toilet facilities to make it a much more pleasant and enjoyable for men and women.

Hvità is licensed to carry 10 passengers plus 2 crew, or 1 tonne of cargo plus 2 crew up to 20 miles offshore. Our main skipper has his MCA Merchant Navy Deck Officer certificate of competency which is above the RYA Ocean Yacht Masters certificate. He also has his GMDSS Radio Operators License. Our other Skipper has passed all relevant MCA examination. Both Skippers have a combined experience of over 40 years working in the Lowestoft area.

Safety
The safety to our passengers is paramount. The vessel will not attempt to go to sea if the Skipper decides the conditions are too severe for the safety of its passengers. Prior to the vessels going to sea on every occasion the Skipper goes through a series of safety checks to the boat and its passengers.

The vessels carries 12 crewsaver inflatable lifejackets and in addition children’s lifejackets. There are also 2 life rafts, pirotechniques and much more all serviced yearly. There is also a manual stating all emergency procedures and donning instructions should something happen to the Skipper.
